Never penny-pinch, particularly after the birth of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the proverbial 800-pound gorilla of world cricket is now busy cutting costs across multiple fronts The board has reiterated in a circular sent out to all IPL stakeholders, including the eight franchises, that it will not host the IPL's opening ceremony from this season on. The circular added that the play-off standing fund for the same season is also being cut.
